Wayne Pollock: Howdy! I'm trying to register for IRC and the License terms won't show. Instead you get "java.lang.NullPointerException". The same occurs if you click the "License Agreement" link at the bottom of the page. Dorothy: I am sorry for the inconvenience. I will be happy to assist you with that. Wayne Pollock: Here's ther URL: Wayne Pollock: https://register.pearsoncmg.com/reg/include/consent.jsp?originalDest=/reg/register/reg1.jsp Dorothy: I am able to access the URL which you have provided Dorothy: Please install java in order to register for IRV Dorothy: IRC* Wayne Pollock: I do have Java installed. Wayne Pollock: Try this direct URL: Wayne Pollock: https://register.pearsoncmg.com/reg/include/license2.jsp Wayne Pollock: If it matters, I'm using Firefox 3.6 Dorothy: No One moment please while I investigate the issue you are describing. Dorothy: I am able to access the URL without any difficulty . Could you please reinstall java from this URL http://www.java.com/en/ Wayne Pollock: I have Java correctly installed I don't believe that the error is at my end; the license is a "JSP" page, which means the Java is being run on your server, and the results sent as ordinary HTML to my browser. So the error is occuring on your server, not on my computer. But, in any case, I do have Java correctly installed, it is working fine on other Java pages that use Applets or WebStart. Dorothy: I’m going to put you in touch with another agent who will be able to assist you. Please wait a moment while the next agent reviews our chat. Thank you for your patience. Wayne Pollock: C:\>java -version java version "1.6.0_25" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_25-b06) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 20.0-b11, mixed mode, sharing) Dorothy has disconnected. Melissa: Hi, my name is Melissa. How may I help you? Melissa: Just a moment while I read the above notes. Melissa: That is rather strange that you are getting Java errors on the registration page, but yet it is working fine form this side. If you'd like, I can email you the Privacy Policy and License Agreement, so you can review them. Wayne Pollock: Please Melissa: Ok, just a moment while I send that out. Wayne Pollock: Thank you! Wayne Pollock: Got it, thanks again. Melissa: No problem, was there anything else I can help with? Wayne Pollock: Nope, I'm all set, thanks. Bye! Melissa: Bye
