Description:

Answer the following questions (based upon the on-line email tutorial and study guide):

  1. How do mailers (MUAs) like mailx and alpine know the location of the user's mailbox file?
  2. If you send copies of a message to a hundred people on the same host, which is different from yours, where are the copies made: the sending MUA, the sending MTA (mail server), or the destination MTA?
  3. If you want to ensure that your address and phone number accompany every message you send, what would you do?
  4. Which are the commonly used formats for an email store?
  5. What is the public protocol commonly used to transport email between MTAs (mail servers)?
  6. You want to send a copy of a message to someone else without the other recipients knowing about it.  How can you do that?  What is this feature commonly called (in an MUA)?
  7. What is a mailing list as the term is used in email?
  8. What is the standard used in mailing multimedia attachments?  Why do you think this standard is needed?
